Zynna has been temporarily taken offline in order to facilitate a server move. Harley Hahn, who has graciously provided website and server hosting for many years has decided to withdraw support from Zynna. New hosting will hopefully be implemented as quickly as possible, though I do ask all of your patience while the change happens. If you have any ideas, questions, or comments, please feel free to email me at tony.becker 'at' gmail 'dot' com While Zynna has had slow traffic as of here recently, I simply don't feel that Zynna should be stricken from the records. I look forward to having access to Zynna for several years to come.

Hexous, I'm glad you have taken the machine. I just talked to Harley and thanked him for turning it over to you. I think he made a good choice but PLEASE don't get involved with diana! I look forward to seeing it back up and will do what I can to help keep things going. Thanks for standing up for our mud!!

Well, I have the server in my possesion now, and it actually turned on and loaded the OS on the first try. So hurdle 1 is down. I will hopefully be able to get a static ip setup and entered into the box by thursday or friday, and be able to test it. I'm still waiting for the web domain to be transferred into my name. The registrar says that it sometimes takes up to 7 days for the entry to go through leaving only 2 days left waiting for that. So from the looks of things, and an incredible amount of luck, sometime during the begining of next week, our beloved Zynna will be back on her feet. I will post again once I get everything switched on, tested, tortured, and otherwise properly beaten into submission. I thank you all for your patience, and look forward to being nestled in our home soon.

Very nicely expressed Hexous. And much more so, well done. I never thought anyone could coax Harley to let go. He had such a deep commitment to the people who participated in the mud, a responsibility that he took so seriously just as he most likely takes in every aspect of his life as he has shown here.
There are so many more issues that are of far more importance than Zynna and yet you and he found the time to save this thing, that's still important to many and has the potential to provide enjoyment to many more in the future.
Thanks to you, Harley, and all that have been so positively involved over the years as well as so many others that have and will continue to make the mud fun and interesting.
There's been a lot of conflict over the years but conflict inspires interest, competition and in many cases, camaraderie.
Well done!

Well, the domain is properly transferred to me, and I have the website up and working on the work webserver. What I've reached now is trying to get to a point where I can get an ip scheme worked out so that you can all connect through the nat translation and working with the dns MX records for the domain name, I could quickly have it up but it would require you all to connect to something like telnet.zynna.com instead of just zynna.com so bear with me, just trying to make it easy for everyone.

Well, either I'm overlooking the obvious on the ip assignment on the box or the ethernet card got hosed on the trip to me. Going to try and have my boss help me out with it as he's played with Linux more than I have and maybe he'll see something I'm not, if that fails, guess I'll get to track down a new nic and some drivers and get those going. I'm terribly sorry that this has all been taking so long and I wanted nothing more than to have everything up as quickly as possible for the rest of you. If any of you have any significant experience with Linux Redhat 4.2 and can post the config for what files need to be edited for network connectivity and what those files should look like fully configured, please let me know as it will significantly reduce my troubleshooting time. I supremely thank you all for your patience in this matter and will instantly notify you in the case that it finally all falls together and works properly.

Thanks for the updates. I wish I could help but it's all greek to me. It looks like the server has found a very good home.

I just wanted to note that, altho I have not been active on the mud recently, I still would love to keep my char and check in from time to time. I would sorely miss the community of the first real mud that I enjoyed.
Kudos to Hexous, Harley and Fonspa for keeping the torch alive. Maybe I'll try to get around more often.
If you ever need me, I can always be found at 3k, m-f, 9-5 under the same name. I also keep my memorial website to Zynna up, with new content from my new mud. I hope that some of their players look at it, and may get some interest and visit Zynna.
Cheers Lachlan

Big kinkups galore, hopefully tomorrow night, will be sitting down with a co-worker and either getting the network card fixed, or porting it to a different server. Seems like the linux that is installed on the machine is either not a complete install or parts of it were taken out for security, either way, makes it a pain in the chutzpah to troubleshoot as everytime I learn something new from books or online turns out it won't work because something is missing. So trying to keep my spirits up and just get this thing hammered out so that I'm not dissapointing you all and we all can just get back to the good life. I don't know enough about linux, and it hurts to be so busy at work and try to find someone to help. I'll keep you notified.

I'm hoping I find a new interest in Mudding again, once Zynna comes back up. I got sucked into the WoW experience. I love the game, but god it's time consuming.
I don't have a life. I play WoW.
Hope to be able to play Zynna again soon. Thanks for doing what you're doing Hexous.
